Description: The Nurburgring is where BMW honed the chassis of the M3 in the days when they were building it to compete in the touring car races. It was designed as a racer first and to homologate it they put in interiors and number plates and sold it as a road car.

The M3's engine is a triumph of engineering which will rev to 8000rpm. I have modified it discreetly to produce just over 237bhp and to give smooth torque (180lbs)throughout the rev range.

BMW M Cars combine outstanding acceleration, precise steering and superior handling - the chassis is one of the best. They have a heritage going back to the original M1 in 1978 in which the Motorsport tuned engines first appeared.

Last year I had the head rebuilt with uprated springs and valves and fitted KK290 cams. I then had it remapped on the rolling road to take account of this. It has the Alpha N system fitted along with the carbon airbox and an Innovate wide band lambda system.

The brakes at the front have been upgraded to Wilwood 6pots and 13" disks which give phenomenal braking.

The radiator and header tank and hoses were also replaced last year. I also fitted adjustable ARBs from H&R slightly bigger than standard. The shocks and springs were replaced a couple of years ago with Koni's all round with Eibach & Avo springs.

It is partially stripped with a half cage fitted for added stiffness and safety. It has bucket seats - Rage and five point harnesses.

I have three sets of wheels for the car - replica Alpinas with Toyo T1S for road use, Team Dynamics Pro Tech 1.2 with R888s and another set of Replica Alpinas with Wets - which have never been used.

It is just having some rust sections cut out of the front footwells and new metal welded in. This will be rust treated and repainted along with the front bumper and a couple of other small areas. The car is solid apart from these areas - a photographic record will come with the car.

On my various trips to the Ring I have thoroughly enjoyed the car, it is really at home there and in the right hands I believe it could achieve sub 8 mins 30 secs BTG.

I have all the records and receipts going back to when the car was new - including the German registration - all handbooks including the M3 additional one.

I have too many cars and in the current climate I am trying to reduce my fleet :-( I will be very sad to see it go after 9 years of ownership.
