Description
Up for sale is my 1990 BMW E30 M3 – White (Alpenweiss II) with Beige (Natur Leather) interior. It has a build date of 11/89 and ~127,000 miles on the odometer. The car is immaculate inside and out. It has a clean Carfax, and I have clear title in hand. Private party inspections are welcome.
I purchased this M3 from the original owner in January 1998 when it had just 20,000 miles. In the 13 years which I have owned it, I’ve driven it an additional 107,000 miles (about 8,000 per year). Together with my 97 M3, this car has been my daily driver and has been a pure joy to drive and own. As an owner of ten BMW’s over the years (including five currently) and a member of S14.net and the BMWCCA, I have meticulously maintained and cared for this car – mechanically and cosmetically. I have all receipts from repairs and upgrades dating back to the original window sticker!
The car has not been in any accidents and has matching VINs on all panels. This car is a pure California car since being imported from the factory to Port Hueneme, CA in 1990. It’s never been driven outside the state. There’s not one spec of rust anywhere!
The trunk-mounted toolbox is complete and the owner’s manual, plus other BMW documents (e.g., service folders, etc.) from the original sale, are included along with the original keys (including valet). I am also including my Koala Motorsport’s E30 M3 Repair Manual CD.
Vehicle Condition
Exterior – 8.5/10
• The body and exterior paint finish of this 21-year old classic are good to extra clean condition.
• Original paint and no rust.
• Windshield has small, repairable spider crack (see accompanying photo).
• Passenger door has slight dimple/ding – can be restored to original condition with paintless repair (i.e., pulled).
• Rear wing has small cracks in paint (a common occurrence with these cars).
Interior – 9.5/10
• Dashboard is perfect - no cracks.
• Leather seats have no rips or tears and are fully functional.
• Front seat bolsters have been re-upholstered.
• There is some loose stitching (not a tear) on a portion of the rear passenger-seat bottom.
• Carpets, headliner and door panels are in very good to excellent condition.
• All gauges and controls are fully operational.
• Upgraded stereo works perfectly and sounds great.
• Power windows and sunroof are all fully operable.
• Cruise control works perfectly.
Mechanical – 9.5/10
• Believe it or not, this car has been the most reliable of the ten BMW's I have owned. You could drive this car anywhere right now!
• Motor pulls strongly and idles perfectly. Valve adjustment last performed at 115,000 miles.
• Compression test (psi):
o Cylinder 1 - 210
o Cylinder 2 - 220
o Cylinder 3 - 215
o Cylinder 4 - 222
• Drivetrain, brakes, exhaust, and suspension are in tip-top condition.
• A/C currently not operational - I haven't needed it; has been converted to R134 but may need new compressor
• I have done routine maintenance (oil changes every 3,000 miles, spark plugs, etc.) on the car.
• Major service has been performed primarily by Bullet Performance Engineering (http://www.bulletmotorworks.com) and San Diego Performance Engineering (formerly, Apex Motorsports - http://www.apexengineering.com), two of Southern California’s premier E30 M3 service specialists.
